Knight Vision Goggles   (+2)  [vote for, against]
Now you see it ...

A set of goggles in which the field of view is restricted to that available through the narrow vision slit of a medieval jousting helm.

Interestingly, there are several records of knights (and others required to wear mediaeval armour) with extreme exopthalmia. It is mentioned because it was felt to give them an advantage in battle, since their eyeballs were closer to the eyeslit, therby giving them better peripheral vision.

Why not just wear a medieval jousting helm? It will be a talking point at dinner parties too.

It's not easy to dine while wearing a helm; and they rust easily if worn in damp conditions.

I wonder is there a first person shooter with that sort of restricted vision?
-- popbottle, Dec 24 2013

More of a first person jouster, mayhap.

Inuit snow goggles.

I'm surprised MB hasn't already pointed this out, but every good knight knows his squire is responsible for keeping his armour in tip-top condition.

Sad that the modern equivalent of said knight goggles should include rhinestone encrusted sunglasses...

Shameful even.
Tis the field of valor lime-lit? Methinks not.

"KITT, this is Michael - I want you to scan that buxom chick and project a wireframe image of her on my goggles..."
