Vehicle: Boat: Life Raft
Marshmallow lifeboat   (+5)  [vote for, against]
As derived from a highly scientific study.

According to a certain website that I'll post below (be sure to check it out, or the idea will seem not just stupid but ridiculous as well), the marshmallow used to make marshmallow peeps is not water soluble. Still, it's edible, lightweight, and will keep indefinately thanks to the high concentration of preservatives. Dry it out a bit, and it's a little more solid. If it punctures, it will still float, and it's nice and soft for landing on. If life rafts were made of this in airplanes or large boats, they would be easy to store, they would float, and if someone were cast away it would be a good source of high calorie food. plus, you won't look like a foreigner if you shipwreck on the coast of Candyland.

I don't know. What nutritional value does a marshmallow have? Couldn't you just use those lime flavoured marshmallows? lime juice would taste kinda funny.

It could be a problem if it is tasty to fish as well as humans. Also marshmallows and salt (the inevitable combo) seems pretty gross. Maybe a waterproof tortilla chip?

Fish cound indeed be a serious problem. I seem to recall some strange flavored marshmallows in goop being sold as bait in certain tackle shops.

[edit] WOW! After looking at the link... Wow! Maybe you could make them out of peep eyes.

thus producing a giant Twinky for the man eating sharks.

<pedant>
The man eating sharks will appreciate marshmallow for dessert after all those chewy dorsal fins.
On the other hand, man-eating sharks, equipped as they are with a highly penetrative hyphen, can munch their way through, say, rubber (or other lightweight life-raft material) just as easily as through thick marshmallow.
The important question, then, is their inclination - would faint traces of sugar in the water excite them as much as blood?
