Mexican Standoff Gun Trigger   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Mutually Assured Destruction: This Time, It's Personal.

One of the worst parts of being in a Mexican standoff is the uncertainty about whether, in the event that a bullet enters your body or head, your nerves will properly and reflexively fire your own gun, destroying your destroyer in a balletic display of righteous juxtahumous vengeance.

But with the Mexican Standoff Gun Trigger, you won't have to wonder. And your opponent won't wonder, either, whether he feels lucky enough to hit your brain stem, interrupting the nervous pathways to your finger, allowing him to unleash his wrath without retribution. Because he'll know that luck has nothing to do with it.

The Mexican Standoff Gun Trigger works thusly: Pulling the trigger all the way back does not fire the gun, but cocks it. It is the release of the trigger--allowing it to move forward under spring pressure--that actuates the hammer or striker. In the event that the body is freed from the will of its spirit, the finger holding the Mexican Standoff Gun Trigger goes lax, and the gun fires.

This is, of course, not the only reason one might want the Mexican Standoff Gun Trigger. I suspect that accuracy could be improved if a gun were to fire upon relaxation, as opposed to increasing muscle tension, so sport target shooters, hunters, or even snipers might benefit from this trigger system, too.

But what if you don't want the gun to go off if you're shot ? This path does not leave you this option.

I prefer hardware that requires my full consent to function.

Then don't pull the trigger?

But... what about death-grip?
Your gun would fire sometime after rigor mortis lets up.

Then release the trigger while holding down the de-prime button.

rigor mortis doesn't kick in right away.

What happens if two people with these guns face eachother?
-- RayfordSteele, Feb 04 2016

// What happens if two people with these guns face eachother? //

They deescalate, or at the very least neither one ever fires, knowing that if they do they will be dead too. Isn't that the purpose of MAD?

More likely they both try to figure a way to throw off the other's aim at the moment that they fire. It seems to me that a grenade-style MAD device might be more effective.

My problem is that when I am hit by a bullet it screws up my aim so bad. Hit with anything, really, but especially a bullet.
