Computer: Brain Implant

Portable computers to the next level.

I've had this idea for a while now. What if you could have a computer in your brain? One implant could relay the display to the visual part of your brain. You could opt to turn the monitor off for the moment, make it transparent so as to see it and your surroundings at the same time or opaque, if your not doing anything else and want a more comfortable view. Another implant using cognitive engineering, will allow you to think the cursor into moving (this has already proven possible) and "typing" (you could also use speech recognition with an implant in one of your teeth). You could chat and email (awesome, like telepathy in the middle of work or class) or surf the BraiNet. I'm not exactly sure how this would be accomplished easily, but someday true wireless internet without large satellites, antennas or anything like that, is bound to come. All this would use motor neurons or whatever so a bunch of weird things wouldn't happen just from letting your mind wonder. It would be like moving a limb, it doesn't happen just because you imagine it to. Look for links.

Actually this has been an idea of mine for some time, just happens to be similiar to other ideas as I'm finding out. I used to think I was the only one with this idea. Oh, well I'm still for it.

If you look, we have a whole category of ideas devoted to brain implants. You've just barely scratched the surface of what cababilities this would bring.

This would blur the line between the dedicated computer nut and an insane person. Is that mumbling on the park bench having a conversation with a 6 foot (180 cm) invisible rabbit or sending an email to his boss?

There would have to be an interface that shuts the computer off when you are driving. Talking on the cell phone is distracting enough.

And just think of the whole new series of computer viruses that this would bring about:

W32Turrez: Randomly causes the infected user to utter obscenities. W32Depenz: Causes loss of bladder control.

Is this just an elaboration to the Computator Idea?

How long does it take to boot up? What kind of temperatures does the hard drive reach? How much storage space would there be? Can you fit 40 gigs in there? What about replacing parts, upgrades and disk drives? Will it cause hair fall-out? What happens when it crashes? Does Bill Gates have one? Is it Windows or Mac? Will it attract lightning? Does it make whirring or clicking noises? Is it susceptible to viruses, spyware, pop-ups? Where's the mouse? What if you forget your passwords? Who's the webserver? Will they have access to your thoughts? Can you use a regular computer at the same time? Will it interfere with sex? Can you download programs in your sleep? Are the settings adjustable? Can it have DSL or broadband? Does Disney know you're doing this? Have these been installed successfully in rats or dogs? Can dogs even surf the net? Aren't dogs color blind? Does it have speakers? Can I still use Kazam? How does it recharge? Is there a plug coming from my ear? The base of my skull? Will it interfere with my pacemaker? Who insures the use of this product? Is it ok to use with regular shampoo? Does it kill lice? Will it teach me to fly a helicopter in four seconds? Well?
