Movable muffling booth   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Compact and sound proofed

I work in an open plan office.

We have meeting rooms for calls but sometimes these are busy so making a private phone call or simply avoiding disturbing people is impossible. It's also nice to have everything to hand during calls or meetings.

I propose the movable muffling booth. This is a sound proof box that is lowered over the person's desk and fits snugly around everything needed to make a call. Some clever engineering ensures the desk shape is catered for whilst maintaining the sound proofing.

An air supply would obviously be needed and some light.

Now you can make calls in private and when finished the booth is hoisted up to the ceiling ready to be positioned over the next user.

Prior Art [8th of 7, Oct 06 2010]

Excellent - just the thing for that sneaky post-lunch nap.

A sound proof box suspended on cables and a track system to move it around, probably? Need more ceiling clearance than most cubicle offices have, but it could be done. Who would get priority to use one? Could be lots of demand in the office.

Yikes - some fabulous prior art.

Mine's movable I suppose and not transparent.

Oh for heaven's sake, Denholm. Show some balls, man! If you want a bit of peace and privacy, just send the staff away for a while.

How did you know I get my balls out?

It's the way you run.

Please allow me to have the pleasure of providing the first post-cubicle bun. [+]

If it's good enough for [Grogster], it deserves my bun [+]. A sound proof box lowered from the ceiling over me and my desk? Fresh air, light, and privacy? Have another bun [+].

I seriously misread the title at first glance.

Imagine my dissapointment on finding that this was not proposing a transportable cloister for the practise of cunnilingus.

Ha! I think you're on to something there.
