Moving Ignition Keyhole For Drunk Driver's Cars   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Maybe in addition to those breath testing ignition locks

If somebody's convicted of drunk driving, after you let them drive again, make them have their car equipped with a motorized key ignition that moves around at random when it senses the smart key is near. Picture the ball in the old video game "Pong" but bouncing around on a much smaller screen.

This would make it tricky enough to insert the key if they're sober but almost impossible if they're drunk.

Have sensors detect if they're trying to steady their hand against the console. If the key hits the outside the keyhole more than a few times, have the car shut down for a couple of hours.

Like the idea of this - not sure it would be fair on older drivers though!

//not sure it would be fair on older drivers// If age, rather than ethanol, is interfering with the driver's eye-hand coordination, is that any reason to overlook the neurological deficit?

Yea, opens up a new can of worms eh?

I'd just put it on drunk's cars for now though.
