Loch Ness matress?

The idea :
Children’s' bedroom furniture crafted into the upside down U-shaped segments of a surfacing sea monster.

The objective :
Incentive to tidy up because when all the toys are straightened away and the drawers are closed the room looks like it contains nothing but a pet sea serpent undulating languidly through the blue carpet.
I wanted to do this for my own daughter’s room but lack the woodworking skills.

(??) H. P. Lovecraft Bestiary - Cthulhu http://www.hplovecr...estiary.htm#cthulhu
Try this, [2fries]. The rest of the site is quite good, too. [Detly, Jun 25 2005]

Maybe these guys could put it together for you. [waugsqueke, Jun 26 2005]

Just for kids? Come on. Where's my claw shaped couch, reaching desparately out of the floor? The Cthulhonic tentacles protruding from the walls and floor as a gothic recliner? The bizarre, five pointed heads of the Elder Things upon which I can rest my coffee?
-- Detly, Jun 25 2005

An upside-down Cthuluhead chair - very nice. The tentacles would form the back. The slit-pupiled eye would glare barefully.

Thank you [Detly].

Great idea [+].

Ahaaa. Now I think I get it. You want the kids to tidy up, because if they don't the room won't look like the seamonster?

P.s: Zeno is a craftsman in woodworking. You could ask him (wink, wink).
-- Susan, Jun 25 2005

couldn't she just close the drawers and then she won't have to worry about the monster
-- mike743, Jun 26 2005

fry fry, check out the link to Straight Line Designs. If any design company could make this happen, it's them.

They're in Vancouver, too.

That (Straight Line Designs) is cool. I am so going to cover every window in my house with cabinets, cases, hutches, and other voluptuous framing.
-- reensure, Jun 26 2005

That is some of the coolest furniture I've ever seen.
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jun 26 2005

I love that idea! I wish I could've had that when I was little.

And am I the only one here who doesn't have kids? I feel like the odd one out.
-- hobbitcoat, Jun 28 2005

I just went to that Straight Line Designs and that was so cool! I love the Bad Table and the big clock with the arms that looks like the clock in Beauty and The Beast.
-- hobbitcoat, Jun 28 2005

I laughed out loud when I saw Bad Table.

Someone at Southwest Missouri State University made a snow sculpture of a sea serpent. The artist built it in the middle of campus, across a sundial platform, and was never identified. For a few hours, SMSU had style. Your design has a croissant.

I second just about all of the above. I have my doubts about the cleaning up the room aspect, at least for my kids, but #19+ anyway.
-- oxen crossing, Jun 28 2005

I'll be your kid for awhile, hobbitcoat.

Nice. ++

Gurniture itself is a pretty good idea, Ogopo notwithstanding.
