Orthogonal Walking   (+4, -1)  [vote for, against]
Proceed, turn, proceed

Orthogonal walking is a locomotuary principal intended for non-optimum yet aesthetically and mathematically satisfactory transition in two-dimensional co-ordinate space.

The Orthogonal walker has only two different methods of progress, either walking forwards in a straight line, or rotating through 90° or an integer multiple thereof.

This technique permits ready access to any part of a building, domestic or otherwise, whilst also affording amusement and stimulation to oneself and onlookers.

Presumably these directions will be aligned with true cardinality.

I am trully interested in this novel way of avoiding strangers. Will it work on three dimentional surfaces?

//true cardinality//
Would that be True North or local Magnetic North, or a different external frame of reference?

For the third dimension, see link.

Arbitrary coordinates

Turning though 59° adds a certain frisson.

Not meant to be silly
