Great idea. Crois for you. When I sing Creed songs, I find it helpful to constipate myself first. Maybe use the marble for that purpose instead, and avoid choking.

Why not use the International Phonetic Alphabet?
-- juuitchan3, Jul 21 2002

Because [juuitchan3] that would just be too sensible.

There's that great Diana Ross song, "Tell Eddie Waring there is no sal-vay-shun".

I think for this to really work you'd need unambiguous phonemes, which may make the Proclaimers song originally referred to quite hard to write...

Who cares how the singer sings it? The goal of karaoke is not to perfectly copy a pop star's attempt at phrasing.
-- bookworm, Jul 22 2002

I was under the impression that it was. The one time I have done karaoke (on "holiday" in Japan), the karaoke machine gave a score based on how closely one's singing matched that on the original song. I got a very low score for my rendition of "U Can't touch This".

The other goal of karaoke (UK style) is to make a noise like someone is twisting your balls for three and a half minutes and then to stand there expecting applause.
-- calum, Jul 22 2002

I stand corrected (though I suspect the score was based more on being on-key than matching phonetics). Then again, I prefer piano bars to karaoke.

thanks for fixing the link angel. My fave mondegreen was back in the folksinging days when a friend thought it was "are you going to start an affair" not Scarborough Fair!

Bun fo uuuuu!
-- DesertFox, Dec 20 2005

I thought that I was mis-hearing the lyrics to 'I Predict A Riot', until I looked up the lyrics. What kind of band uses 'lairy'?

Anyways, bun!
