Plasma Drumset   (+2)  [vote for, against]
Boom!...Tish!...Zot!

Take average drumset. Install flat plasma globe-like form-fitting chambers inside near the head surface that will respond to electro-static disturbances created by the sticks. Replace drumset heads with clear ones. Proceed thrashing about.

As you were.

By plasma globe you mean...what, exactly? Neon lights, the cool things you touch and the electricity follows your fingers, or what?
-- DrOuD, Mar 20 2003

RT, that option's only for Black Sabbath.

I could swear I've seen flat screen plasma-storm displays of some sort that you could touch and yield a similar effect, but have no idea what to search under.

This rocks!
-- roby, Mar 20 2003

I like it. There's a plasma plate that HAS TO be built into a bass drum or electric guitar.
-- FloridaManatee, Mar 20 2003

Yeah, that's where I saw it. The Borg thing. Where's 8th of 7 when you need 'im?
-- RayfordSteele, Mar 21 2003

Regenerating ..... I was kept awake all last night by somebody improvising drum solos and then breaking off to say, "Oh wow ! Cool !".....
-- 8th of 7, Mar 21 2003

Perfect segue into a Borg Band.
-- RayfordSteele, Mar 21 2003

Would you even need a drummer in a Borg Band?
-- krelnik, Mar 21 2003

Isn't this just a Theremin?
-- hippo, Mar 21 2003

Good Idea. They already make those plasma balls that react to sound. One basically would just have to mount it into a Drum and Viola!
-- jonman, Mar 21 2003

[krelnik] Yes you would, for the boom-boom-crash, boom-boom-crash preceding, "We will / we will / assimilate you / Buddy, you're a Borg / make a big cube / up in outer space / gonna be a Borg Queen some day" etc.
-- friendlyfire, Mar 21 2003

Oh come on, friendly, finish it out... if you don't, I will...

A much better usage of bio-electronic 'wet' brain uplinky type communications devices in the movies. Band members with musical instruments grafted in, playing whole concertos of electronic music at a thought.

Darn swiss cheese. I miss Rod.
