When I'm away, I often send postcards home. Problem is, I need a stamp. Sometimes, the shop I choose my postcard in will also sell stamps, but they often don't know what kind of stamp I need.

So I have to go to a post office. This all takes time and is a bit of a hassle.

I propose the postcard with stamp. It could just be with a stamp already stuck on, or it could be all part of the postcard print. Instead of the normal carousels of cards, there will be a "To Europe" carousel, a "To USA" carousel and "To anywhere else".

I generally like the convenience that this concept could provide.

The U.S. Postal service does, or at least used to, sell decidedly non-touristy postcards preprinted with postage. I see problems when the price of postage changes.

I don't always buy postcards for the purpose of mailing them. I wouldn't want to pay for the postage if I didn't plan to mail them. Maybe the postcards could be printed on demand, on cardstock with/without appropriate postage.

Hmm...has anyone seen any on-demand postcard printing kiosks?

[half] the Royal Mail got around this by printing 1st and 2nd class stamps, rather than 27p and 21p stamps, i.e. they never lose their value.
My main concern though is that they'd suddenly be valuable and might get nicked.

[half and neilp] neilp is right, the (UK) Royal Mail get round this by printing the class of stamp and not the value.

re : Getting them nicked. Not sure ... after all, the only people interested in stealing a "To Europe" postcard will be someone who wants to send a postcard to Europe. None of your local thievin' community would be interested.

Could get round this by actually having all the postcards at the till (register). The carousels just show the cards. You could then head to the till and ask for "A No. 9 Europe and a number 11 World please"
