daddy or chips?

From time to time a potato becomes newsworthy because it resembles a famous person. This is a process of total serendipity, but Potatotraits can now offer it as a paid for service, for those who desire to own a portrait of themselves as a genuine potato.

The process begins by the costumer scanning and sending in two views of their entire head; one front face and one side view. Potatotraits digitises these by storing a set of key points. This information is then sent to a number of potato processing plants where millions of tubers speed along conveyor belts and past a set of Potatotrait's cameras. The digitised key points are instantly compared to each potato as it zips past, with likely matches being diverted into a separate storage area.

All likely matches are then examined in greater detail by a human operator, and if the match is acceptable the customer eventually receives their Potatotrait in a special presentation pack.

I'm sure there are better examples, but this is a start. [xenzag, Aug 14 2012]

The world is better for having this idea.

Could a parallel system employ carrot-analysing algorithms?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Aug 14 2012

Not sure about carrots but turnips are definitely an option.

I don't think Mr. Potato Head would be very happy about this!
