PowerMouse   (+6)  [vote for, against]
chika-chika-chika-chika-chika...

Say you're at home, the office, or the library, and you're staring at the computer, doing nothing. You can't think of what to do. So you start clicking on your PowerMouse till insipration strikes.

The PowerMouse is a smaller version of the regular mouse with one, large, raised button. This button, when pressed, acts as a tiny, cute dynamo, creating a small spark of electricity, which is then used to suplement the power being sucked up by your computer, or sent to a battery elsewhere for storage.

Individually, the PowerMouse is useless, but when installed in a large office with many disillusioned employees who are willing to press a button out of boredom, the PowerMeeses (It's my idea, I get to define the plural.) can save hundreds of dollars/quid in electricity. So even if you're not doing work, at least you can say you saved the company a little money.

And, and, and... If you put a small 5VDC motor on an unused USB port with a rotating crankshaft and a piston to go up and down to press the button, you could just set the USB device on your mouse while you sit-and-do-nothing. This way, every unused computer would power itself!
Or something.
