Rear windshield mounted Nixie tube scroll   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Technically not an “invention involving back windows of cars and LEDs spelling out messages”

You get the idea. Since most Nixie tubes can only display numbers, they'd be mounted upside down so you could use calculator spelling (e.g., 07734 translates to “hello”, 5318008 translates to… well, you get the idea, again).

For those who don't know what [ytk] is talking about. [Vernon, Jun 05 2015]

Thanks for the explanation, Vernon. But blah on the idea. Not in a good mood, so just blah.

So you'd communicate in leetspeak and volapuk?
-- normzone, Jun 05 2015

The word "Nixie" is actually an Americanised spelling of "Nixi", the Latin equivalent of "Andrew", after the inventor's son.

Or, communicate by finding signage with the words you want, and driving over it such that it becomes entangled in your rear bumper.
