Halfbakery: Vote Display
Recant Counter   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Numeric indicator of indecisiveness

I have often wondered exactly how many times I clicked the 'annotate', 'link', or 'add' links, only to type some boring or unrelated tripe, and then hit the 'back' button in my browser without ever submitting what I typed. I imagine that I am chief among these retractors, but such a counter as this would provide empirical evidence. Is this possible to implement?

Each time a logged-in user clicks 'add', 'annotate', or 'link' and then does not submit anything, add one to this count. Display this count on the user's page.

Just more useless minutia. Hmm, maybe I'll not even hit the OK button just now...

Looks like Jutta already implemented this, it caught your idea anyway...I do the same thing fairly often...start an annotation and decide either not to say what I was going to say or come back to it later...

As is probably obvious by now, I just about never cancel out, no matter how full of balderdash I get.

Yeah, absterge, quite often I'll post something at 2:00 AM local time before leaving work and then when I get home log on and delete the stupid thing. And I often back out midway through an annotation. It would just be depressing to have a tally, though.
