Fishing, by remote control.

Inspired by the remote-control bobbler (see link).

Fishing and radio-controlled model boating are both sad occupations. Neither contains enough excitement or challenge. Worse yet, I suspect that model boats are the bane of fisherman, and vice versa.

But no more! Disputes between anglers and bobble-hatted model boat enthusiasts begone!!

Simply equip your scale replica of the Titanic or the Beagle with appropriately- sized fisherman standing on deck, their rods held out over the sides. Extra channels on the remote control allow each fisherman to lower or reel in his line.

I could go on, but I'm sure I don't need to. You get the idea. Imagine the model- sized joy of landing a four-inch-long great white shark, or the thrill of the chase as you pursue a trout the size of a battleship!

Need force feedback, delicate force feedback. Tough to do.

I built a simple version of this once (only tried it once, to no avail). Not as fancy as a model fisherman, just a stick with a line attached taped to the back of my RC boat.

If you're looking at hooking small fish, I imagine they would all be scared off bu the whine of the RC's motor. And if you're looking at hooking big fish, the RC couldn't reel them in.

Too late. This idea is already on the market. some enterprizing model boaters have set up shop building "Line Placers" ...little R/C boats that are modeled after the owner's full sized boat. Some states already have fishing regulations limiting the use of these R/C line casters.

Check out Fishing by Remote control - Idaho Fish and Game

Also, (as an interesting aside) when I was in the Mosquito Abatement Program in new Mexico, we used R/C boats to gather water samples and to distribute larvacide in stagnant bodies of water.
