River Trees   (+10)  [vote for, against]
squiggly saplings in fluvial beds

- What an unusual nursery this is!

- You mean the large number of mothers breastfeeding their infants?

- No, I was thinking of those fan-trained fruit trees over there.

- Oh, those young, two dimensional saplings shaped by pruning, copper wire, weights and cord, meant to stand against a south-facing wall?

- Exactly, the exclusive river trees! I liked the one shaped like the Amazon and tributeries, bearing exotic Rollinia fruit.

- Or the Nile tree with Palu and Weera fruit and an impressive delta root system.

- Of course, best was the Mississippi peach tree with well-balanced Missouri and Ohio branches.

Meanders in the mid and lower courses are gonna be tricky. And what about ox-bow lakes?

Is it ok to eat fruit from trees along the Po River, downstream from Milan that dumps raw sewage into it?
