Shell-less Shotgun   (+2)  [vote for, against]
Pour propellant in one chamber, buckshot in the other.

A conveyor belt of rounds are packed by a mechanism in the stock.

A backpack could carry the powder and buckshot so automatic fire could be sustained for several minutes with the addition of the appropriate cooling mechanism.

I would call this the CAS-1 Dragonfire. (Continuous Automatic Shotgun #1)

An army equipped with one of these per squad would best be left un-engaged in close combat.

Someone french ... [8th of 7, Oct 26 2018]

[Steps back and waits for [8th] to first pick this idea to pieces, then describe several obscure examples developed by German munitions, then say something about cats]

Yea, me too.

I think I just spotted him making his way over your garden fence, carrying a large double compartment bag that was connected to something resembling a horizontal drain pipe. This might be a good time to release the pet GM cauliflower triffid.

Hasn't the DOD been working out how to get rid of casings for ages? Heavy and ultimately wasted. Isn't the pack of the powder quite important? How is the primer engaged with this? Is there a primer?

//An army equipped with one of these per squad would best be left un-engaged in close combat.//

Because that backpack could blow any second...

Modified spark plug.

<Desperate and not entirely successful attempt to hide huge cheesy grin>

What a truly excellent idea ... we can't see a single flaw in it. We will even manufacture the prototype for you, if you will agree to do all the live-fire testing in person while we watch from behind a pile of sandbags

Yes. However, the technology (the de Bange obturator) is Baked, WKTE, and still used by the few remaining large-calibre naval rifles still in service.

... but can be, and usually are, recycled.

//Isn't the pack of the powder quite important? //

Bagged charges tend to use extruded ('cordite') propellants rather than powder

//de Bange obturator//

Rarely has there been a more appropriately named inventor.

Our are you just pretending it was invented by somebody French?
