Shell Shocker   (+4, -1)  [vote for, against]
Ever seen those fire turtles?

The metal canvas that firefighter whip over themselves during a wildfire to reflect heat, if they are caught unable to escape?

Wire a nice large electrode(s) somewhere and make the inside rubber.

Being attacked?Deploy the Shell Shocker over your body and anyone who ouches the outside gets shocked.

Need some personal time in the middle of a busy place? Deploy and people will leave you alone.

How to deploy: Drop down and pull cord. Worn like a backpack, when you pull the cord, it unfold, like a fast tent. To get out, switch off the power and fold it up again.

Perhaps kevlar could be added to make it bulletproof, too?

Better, surely, a cape? Then rather than scrunching up immobile on the ground, you'd just swing your back around and run away. If they managed to grab you, they would feel the feel force of your electrified wrath, while you would be able to keep on running.

That's an easy modification. Maybe two models? One as a shell, the other as a cape?

[DesertFox], I think you must mean kevlar. They make balloons out of mylar.

Thank you for noticing. I don't know what I was thinking. Mistake noted and corrected.

[normzone] ducks behind his bulletproof mylar shell shocker, realizes he doesn't know what he was thinking, jumps up and takes evasive action.

I heard a war story about a guy on one of the old PT boats. In his first battle he kept ducking behind a piece of the gun mount.

Afterwards, senior crew asked him about it, and he replied "I didn't want to get nicked, so I kept ducking behind the armor".

They told him "Son, that's 1/4" plywood". He was reputedly fearless in battle from then on.

[normzone] "ducks behind his bulletproof mylar shell shocker".

Why do you have ducks behind your bulletproof mylar shell shocker?
-- Basepair, Mar 25 2005

He is secretly the Duck Man. He doesn't know they are their.

"Isn't it time you fed your duck?"

"What duck?"
