Shiatsu Rucksack   (+4)  [vote for, against]
No more aches and pains

Now, with the new BorgCo Shiatsu rucksack, you can finish your day's hiking as fresh and limber as when you started.

This ingenious device integrates an array of firm massage balls into the back panel, which are pressed into the wearer's back by the weight of the rucksack contents.

On the DeLuxe model, an additional panel presses firmly against the wearer's neck.

The massage balls retract into the padding when not operating, to avoid pressure points.

Powered by a lightweight Lithium-ion battery, topped up by an exterior photovoltaic panel, and controlled from a waterproof touch panel on the harness straps (or, on the DeLuxe model, a phone app), the BorgCo Shiatsu Rucksack is the newest and best thing for outdoors types !

(?) Not the same as this Shih_20Tzu_20Shiatsu
[hippo, Apr 04 2016]

I love it. But it needs a vibrator, a heating pad, and a medicine dispenser. The remaining twenty cubic inches can be used for cargo.

I principle, I like the idea. However, I am having some trouble in visualizing [8th] hiking.

There are lots of massaging backpacks. What makes this one novel?
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Apr 03 2016

Firstly, it is shiatsu, not just vibration; and secondly, it is a cargo- carrying rucksack, not just a single-function back-worn massager.

// trouble in visualizing [8th] hiking //

Here, have a couple of these ergot-derivative herbal mushroom tablets. They should make it a lot easier. Ignore the flashing purple giraffes, that's a normal side effect. Probably.

"Massage balls"? - but surely you wear this on your back?
-- hippo, Apr 04 2016

If you turn it on and set it down, does it crawl away?
-- tatterdemalion, Apr 04 2016

// surely you wear this on your back? //

That's what it says in the instructions, but obviously once you have purchased it, what you do with it is your own business. We are not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from misuse.

// does it crawl away //

No. It just slowly oscillates about a fixed point.

Errr, isn't this just a Procrustean bed at 90 degrees but in an upright plane?
