Silence At The Synchronised Hair Salon   (+7, -1)  [vote for, against]
cut hair in synchronised orchestration

At the Synchronised Hair Salon there is total silence as the scissors are poised behind the row of heads all waiting in perfect stillness. There are no conversations about holidays or the weather or covid or political numpties.

With a single gesture of their conducting comb, the director signals a start to the proceedings, and the sound of perfectly synchronised scissor snipping fills the room.

Other gestures indicate the timed deployment of electric shavers to begin buzzing in harmony for neck areas etc.

More specialised sevices such as the subtle sound of synchronised razor shaving are available and timetabled for appointments.

All events are concluded by the choreographed sweeping of hair from the floor and the beeping of electronic payments into individual devices.

+ Here’s a bun but no I would never go to a hair salon where I couldn’t talk to my hairdresser! They are better than a therapist you know.

Just for that there can be an "exchange of synchronised secrets" session.

Could be an olympic sport

Would you have to have people with identical hairstyles?

I see this as a musical of some Rogers and Hammerstein sort.
-- RayfordSteele, Mar 09 2022

I think the mystery and joy of it would be individual hairstyles being created by identical scissor actions and movements of the salon operatives.

Then this could be like a kind of pantograph system like has been proposed on here for automatic writing. i.e. the hairdresser wields the scissors etc. in their usual way, but the victim is seated on a rotating and movable platform that wriggles and jiggles like a CNC cutter to present them at different angles and position to the scissors.

Tricky.

There was a YouTuber who did a haircutting robot. It was rather poor at getting a decent cut, as people's heads are shaped rather differently from eachother and require a variety of trim angles. I'll see if I can find it.

“Happy to serve, Esteemed Client. You want a bit of a trim around the ears? Or remove the ears? Yes, sir!”
