Slinky Bombs   (0)  [vote for, against]
Who wants to fight when slinkies are parachuting down?

Every time I give someone a slinky, they get a childlike look in their eyes and start slink-slink-slinking.

Can't we just parachute drop millions of slinkies on civilized areas? Who will be mad about getting a slinky?

Modification for greater yield might be possible. Whatever you define "yield" as. [hoopdy, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

What for? For fun or to facilitate the break down of civilisation as we know it 'cos everyone will be having too much fun to go to mcdonalds or send text messages.

If the latter, one bun for you.

instant slinky stampede on sloping surfaces (hills, rooftops, etc.)

I can see Chinese tourism booming, especially around the Great Wall. Lots of nice slinky steps there.

you know, for small or underdeveloped countries, why parachute them? send them via ground shipping and then you get the added bonus of totally overwhelming a small nation's postal system. you might even interfere with important goverment functions in the process...taxes, census, and anything that requires hardcopy communication

Incoming!
Now ve vait.

Silverstormer, cool picure, good point.

Hopeful, I think your idea loses some of the glamour of this idea. Wouldn't it be cool to wake up one morning, go outside, and find a parachute attached to fresh Slinky box sitting on yout front porch?

More to the point: you need two hands to make a slinky go "slink-slink" properly. Therefore you would need to put down whatever kind of rifle you were carrying at the time.

Will this leave slinky bombshells littered about?
-- half, Jul 25 2003

But can you imagine the horror when they get tangled. Anyone who gets too involved in the slink-slink will suffer complete mental breakdown.

Regarding link by [hoopdy], the last paragraph doesn’t seem to make sense. It sounds like the bungee jumper jumps, and is pulled *down* by the bungee; but this is not how they do it around here… From what I’ve seen, the jumper jumps attached to a bungee with slack, and then it pulls tight. Is this not how it works inside the Exploratorium?
-- swamilad, Jul 25 2003

Maybe they were thinking of a "bungee" (slinky) jumper pushed down by the compressed slinky.

Gee, I accidentally read this idea as "stinky bombs".

[squeak], interesting anno... world domination ala 'pinky and the brain' through slinky distraction... hmmm...
