Space Pixels Ultimata   (+2, -1)  [vote for, against]
what goes around, comes around eventually

The recent nasa photographs of the very distant object named Ultima Thule initially showed it as series of large greyscale pixel blocks.

We are promised more detailed images over time, but I think it would be great if those detailed images turned out to be that of an object constructed entirely out of 12 giant blocks of material in various shades of grey, exactly like those of the initial images.

Such an object could be constructed using a series very thin rods acting as vectors with the spaces between filled in with a uniformly flat fabric. This might be the hardest aspect to achieve but some internal lighting would ensure that the results emitted an even tone, defeating the detection of any surface imperfections.

When complete, Space Pixels Ultimata would be dispatched into a type of deep space elliptical trajectory. (similar to that of an infrequent visiting comet) This would ensure its eventual return to the solar system in a very distant future when it has been totally forgotten. At this point it could be discovered by the new species that has evolved to replace the now extinct human race, who's version of nasa photograph the softly blurred object, with the promise of more detailed views to come.

Looks like this when built. https://www.thetab....a-thule-flyby-cnet/

Only if the words "Kilroy Woz Ere" can be printed in 8pt Times Roman over the entire structure, visible only in ultra-ultra- high resolution images.

I actually have a nasa proposal for a block of space text.... It's a giant exit sign. (I only post a small sample of ideas here on HB.)

"WILL THE LAST SENTIENT BEING LEAVING THE SYSTEM PLEASE TURN OFF THE LIGHTS" ?

That presupposes that there are any here already.
