Speech-to-Rebus   (+1)  [vote for, against]
If phone-text is going to full of icons, then at least make them harder to interpret.

A typical phone-text app now offers access to a large number of little pictures as alternatives to words.

Hook up such an app to voice-recognition software - but, instead of just writing a picture of a thing named, have the software pluck out from the stream of phonemes any sequence which can be mapped to any picture in the library, where words map to pictures many-to-many.

A groan-slider widget sets the level of permissible machine-generated bad punning.

An ex-rebus mode, combined with a high slider setting, allows this software to be used as a crude means to encrypt communication.

Ideally, advanced rebus constructions* would also be supported, but the algorithm for that would not be trivial.

Presumably not - unless transmission is in Morse.
