May the force be with you.

I'm sure something like this has been done at those nerdy science fiction conventions. But those are usually only annual affairs. When I was a kid we used to do this every day on the playground. Now that I'm a bit older and have moved beyond the schoolyard, much more realism seems possible and less pretending is necessary. Perhaps a weekly blaster duel with paintball guns, a high speed dirtbike chase through the woods or a simulated siege in heavy winter conditions could be arranged by groups of fans who have realistic armor, costumes and props. It beats playing with action figures and is more realistic and interactive than playing on the computer.

People cheat, Sony over-reacts. People stage online demonstration by converging thier virtual realities on one virtual spot, vitually shutting down a server in protest. Protesters banished to depths of space... Government agencies everywhere take notes. [ato_de, Jan 25 2005]

So basically you want to play outside like a kid again? How is this an original idea? No explanation necessary.

Did anyone else see "Reign Of Fire", the British post-apocalypse/ giant dragons malarkey that came out about 2-3 years ago?
