Strange Name Club   (+5, -3)  [vote for, against]
An exclusive club for those with strange names.

At each monthly meeting, members would vote on ONE and only one new member to join from the pool of monthly applicants. Applicants would submit proof of their name (copy of birth certificate, for example) and hope to be chosen as that month's sole new member. Applicants could reapply again and again, but every application would cost a nominal fee, generating revenue for the exclusive "Weird Name Club."

The Utah Baby Namer [angel, Apr 12 2005]

Would a boy named Sue qualify?

Of interest to me is what the decision process is to determine what is considered to be a strange name.

I think strange name club is not a strange enough name for this club. How about Mediocre Monikers Society?

Neil Andrew Megson changed his name to Genesis P- Orridge.

Christine Carol Newby didn't like the name Christine and prefered to be called Carol. After meeting P-Orridge she changed it to Cosmosis. finally she chose Cosey Fanni Tutti. After the Mozart opera Cosi fan tutte.

They were members of performance art group Coum Transmissions (google it, it's weird)

Another member by general consent in the group stuck to his original name: John Smith.

I didn't mark this because the idea itself didn't seem to me to be an explicit call for a list.
