Don't just waste hours on a computer game- do your taxes.

Instead of Turbotax, which is a great product, I propose a computer adventure game that lets you complete your taxes while you play the game. In the game, player is prompted for specific tax info such as W2s and interest to unlock levels and advance game. Multiple path choices are given in virtual action play format and are chosen by player based on their tax strategies. Bad math sends you back. Awesome realms represent different tax forms. Enter the golden pyramid of itemized deductions or battle through the capital gains fortress. When game is completed, your tax return can then be sent electronically to state and federal agencies-just like Turbotax. A new and more difficult version is released each year. Bonus: you can remember tax years by the themes from each game.

Hold on just a second here, wombat. The beauty of doing taxes is that the total to be paid is known before the numbers are crunched.

I'm afraid if I got this game, it would sit on the shelf, and I'd only end up playing it about once a year.

It's not intended for repeat play. It just replaces the tax programs that are available with something more visual and entertaining that might get procrastinators to use the time normally spent on video games to complete their tax returns in a fun way. It could get people to explore money-saving options that they would have ignored just to get the dreaded task done.

I'm paperwork-phobic, so anything that makes the process more interesting is a good idea in my book. +
