The Naked Chronicles   (+2, -1)  [vote for, against]
be read like a book

The Naked Chronicles requires the construction of a complex piece of apparatus that allows a customised bed of nails to be created, and altered via a keyboard.

The nails are tightly clustered and have rounded blunt heads, each shaft being capable of being raised or lowered. The clusters of protruding nails are linked to a key-board. This means a message can be typed, that will appear in braille format on a human outline shape on the bed of nails.

Now all that remains is for a willing recipient to lie on the braille message for long enough to allow the protrusions to leave a pattern of embossed indents on their unclothed torso, arms and legs.

A careful finger tip exploration by a blind person can now begin before the message fades. Works best with surreal poetry readings.

Here's hoping the poem isn't a minimalist single exlamation point.

I thought Braille was bumps, not dips. Wouldn't you therefore need an array of mosquito bites, rather than nail wounds? How about goose bumps? Or just bad cellulite?

"Have I got cellulite?"
"I prefer to think of it as poetry in braille."

"Miss, I think you're mis-punctuated."
"You idiot. Those aren't periods."

A bit reminiscent of In the Penal Colony by Kafka where a similar apparatus is described.
