Toroidal aerobie skipping stones   (+8)  [vote for, against]
You need a new pool toy. How about skipping stones? How about mass optimized, flight optimized skipping stones?

I think it is time for a new pool toy. People frequently skip stones on the beach, so why not the length of the pool?

These could be improved, with optimized surface form and mass to produce the most skips, and perhaps the furthest skips with a slightly puffy toroidal Aerobie (ultra frisbee).

Another option could be an ice cube tray formed in the shape of optimal skipping stones.

I like this. They could be heavy like those bounce on water balls and with an interlocking Styrofoam brick wall to knock down you could play dam-busters.

I wonder if a puffy aerobic would fly. The physics of flying discs is baffling to me. Clearly the same principles cannot be at work in a frisbee vs an aerobie. Vs one of the flying cutout coke cans! Lets see if I can find a link for that last one...

// you could play dam-busters. //

Not with styrofoam bricks, they'd float. The Upkeep bouncing mine works by hydrostatic shock; the target has to be submerged.

You would need to put nets across the pool at intervals to replicate the anti-torpedo nets in the Ruhr dams, and the objective would be to place your projectile as close as possible to the base of the wall.

[+] very much the ice cube derivation.

Skipping Grenades, for when they try to attack you over water. This is clearly an essential item to bring to all swimming pools in America.

They're not toroidal but Aqua Skimmer toys are Baked. [link]

Sometimes having an idea already baked feels like vindication, other times it is just harumph!

A stone is a bit of a scale/form factor difference to a converted Frisbee. Get an A.I. onto designing the form, there might be surprises.

I'll have an ouzo with two of the new skimmers please.
