Trick Or Treaters Lightspeed Walkway To Front Door Effect   (+3)  [vote for, against]
For Star Wars themed houses this Halloween

The little zombies, princesses and super heros walking up to the front door to get their treats are suddenly propelled through hyperspace ending up at the front door where Darth, Princess Leia, Chewbacca or the like opens the door with their treats.

This effect is achieved by motion triggered lights arrayed in tunnel configuration around the walkway to the door that flash in sequence to give the effect from the Star Wars movies when the ships transition into hyperspace, light speed or whatever.

Something like this https://www.youtube...watch?v=JMoojEn4m34
But as much like the movies as possible. [doctorremulac3, Oct 23 2022]

More like this. Skip to :28 https://www.youtube...watch?v=WMMiZFPYg6M
With sound effects too. [doctorremulac3, Oct 23 2022]

Your first link shows third-person views, when what you want is a first- person view.

Your second link shows more of a first- person view, but it relies on the absence of other lights as reference points. Would you put your lights inside an actual tunnel, so that the static lights of your house (for example) would be masked?

Yea, might need to clarify it. You'd have a tunnel made of sheets that they walk into that's lined with rows of lights all around them parallel to their path.

When they get about say... 3/4 of the way to the door, the lights light up sequentially such that it looks like they're stars flying by them and very high velocity then maybe you have a flash at the door giving the effect that they're arrived out of hyperspace.

I believe they have this on a Disneyland ride, let me see if I can find that. Yea, go to :28 on the last link.

You'd play sound effects too.

Anyway, what I was hoping was that the children would experience their weight increasing as they approached the door, and when they returned with their candies, they would find everyone else prematurely aged. But that might need a larger budget.

[pert] feed them enough candies and their weight will increase. Lock them in the basement long enough and everyone will have aged noticeably when they return. There is no problem so trivial that it cannot be solved with science.

Ah, but the candies are not usually fed to them until after they've reached the door, whereas the weight gain should be concurrent with the approach to "light speed".

Now you're just being picky. Define initial state, final state, and also define acceptable tolerance of measurements (personally I think a couple of orders of magnitude is usually fine to start with)
