Turning on the spot   (+6, -2)  [vote for, against]
Electric cars ought to be able to turn on a dime by reversing the wheels on one side...

Assuming your electric car is of the type that is a motor driving each wheel independently (on all 4 wheels, which I believe is a common practise with electric cars), ... it should be possible to turn an electric car on the spot the same way that tanks do - wheels on one side go forward, wheels on the other side go in reverse. The facility could even be downloaded as an upgrade to existing vehicle. Note to the commenters: I'm not talking about 4-wheel steering or differential steering or mecanum wheels or anything that requires a redesign of any part of the vehicle - I'm only suggesting that they could run the two wheels on one side in reverse, on vehicles that have motors on all 4 wheels.

If you had some kind of independent steering control of all 4 wheels you could just pull a lever to engage spinning mode and all four wheels would toe-in front and back.

+ cool idea

You would get 'scrubbing' on the tires as the back ones at least wouldn't be able to turn. Probably no more than turning the front wheels while stationary I guess.

Serious tire scrub action and damage to sidewalls likely.
