"Glass Eye" doorknob   (+9)  [vote for, against]
Startling

A ceramic doorknob made to look like an oversize glass eye.

Available in blue, green, hazel, brown, glowing red, or any of those plus "bloodshot".

Deluxe version incorporates a CCTV camera peering out through the pupil.

Available in matched pairs, for double doors, to seriously freak out visitors.

Optional sound system chants "Cthulhu f'thagn ! " in a basso-profundo voice when the knob is grasped.

There are a few similar items on the Web, but nothing exactly like this.

Each doorknob in the house could be a life-like body part.

I'm quite pleased with this one, and getting inside 8th's head was easy. There's tons of room in there. [+]

Indeed there is, just like a Holodeck ... <snigger/>

//blue, green, hazel, brown, glowing red//

You're overlooking the obvious:

"The Eye was rimmed with fire, but was itself glazed, yellow as a cat's, watchful and intent, and the black slit of its pupil opened on a pit"
-- pertinax, Apr 21 2020

Under development; the "fire" effect is tricky to get right. It comes complete with a special pushbutton doorbell that is configured to just give One Ring.

Hmmmmm.

Motorized eyelids? Just look like door knobs till touched open and looking up.

Biting doorknobs, look like normal doorknobs but proximity sensors detect an approaching hand, and the knob opens to reveal teeth which lunge and snap at you as you try to grab the handle
-- pocmloc, Apr 22 2020

That would be an interesting security measure; you should post it. Rattlesnake, perhaps ?

Thanks [lurch], the title change broke the link.

"Cthulhu f'thagn ! " Loosely translates into "Keep one hand on the window frame."
-- reensure, Apr 23 2020

// hand //

Tentacle/pseuopod/grasping appendage or nearest equivalent, but yes.

Often mistaken for the phrase "Cthulhu fhtagn" which of course means something quite different, and should never be spoken aloud incautiously, particularly by the seashore on a full moon with Pisces rising, in Innsmouth.
