Several options here: s:z pairs mark the number of 1s and 0s respectively, if there is a 10 or 1010 it is written as is.

Another option is always to write the number of 1s and zeroes with a ^ between them and a space between the pairs so the first digits of pi are:
11.0^1 1^2 1^4 6^1 2^1 1^1 1^1 1^3 1^3 1^4 1^1 1...=
11.0100 10000 11111 10110 10101 00010 00100 00101...
