door knob converter   (+7)  [vote for, against]
makes door knob a lever for arthritic people

a lever handle that fits over a door knob and tightens as it's rotated, like an automotive oil filter wrench. It would ease access for handicapped people or maybe a semi-permanant one for people that always have thier hands full. Just hit it with your knee.

It's the thought that counts.

Actually, re-reading his idea just now, it looks more like one you carry around with you to convert OTHER doorknobs, like on other people's houses, or hotels or whatever...

Some kind of a lightweight strap-wrench with plastic handle and a rubber strap shouldn't be too hard to whip up - this a job for - wrenchndmachine!

I'd like to see doors opened with a pedal. (No, not a full-blown automatic door, just a lever.)

Unfortunately, that won't solve the problem of having to fish for your key with two arms full of groceries. Foot-operable combination lock? (Yes, yes, high tech proximity sensors, yawn.)

Would probably be easier as some sort of large-jawed pliers with rubber lining, so you don't have to squeeze them hard...

We used to have Cannon plug pliers with plastic jaw inserts in the Nav, just about the right size too.
