Product: Fireworks
impressive explosion   (+8)  [vote for, against]

If movies have taught us anything, it's that if you want to impress someone you have to walk towards them from your car and at some point during this walk your car will explode, but you will not turn around to look at it, nor will you break step or react in any way at all.

This idea then is for a range of fireworks which can be attached to your car and which can be triggered by a discreet actuator in your pocket. When you trigger the explosion, they will produce a loud noise and plenty of sparks and smoke, but no actual damage to your car.

Can the package include one hubcap that rolls past you as you stroll away?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 18 2019

Deluxe package comes with Salma Hayek or Antonio Banderas, for the purposes of more accurately recreating the ne plus ultra of this phenomenon.

I now realise that's what I've been doing wrong all these years - reacting to stuff.

And not having a car.

Is there an imploding version, where the car disappears with a similar bang with the effect being similar to reverse footage of the outwards explosion?

A hubcap is even more impressive as a comedy bit seeing as how no cars have hubcaps anymore.

// a range of fireworks which can be attached to your car and which can be triggered by a discreet actuator in your pocket. //

Baked and WKTE (as you point out).

// When you trigger the explosion, they will produce a loud noise and plenty of sparks and smoke, but no actual damage to your car. //

The loud noise and smoke are possible, although the paintwork will need a wash afterwards. Sparks, flame and fragments are not.

// A hubcap is even more impressive as a comedy bit seeing as how no cars have hubcaps anymore. // Actually there is at least one. In the USA, the 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage ES comes standard with 14" steel wheels and covers. It looks like the Nissan Versa may as well, but I gave up searching for the specs to verify the photo after about 30 seconds.

Of course, if you are trying to impress someone, the first step might be to not own one of those two cars...

I think I saw a Versa being given away the other day as a Happy Meal toy. I had thought there were some implied standards associated with the word 'car,' but in this progressive era of relaxed identities, perhaps I was wrong.

Addendum to this idea: In the film 'Diva' a character's very beautiful Citroen is blown up in a devastating explosion in his garage. Without hesitation, he opens up his other garage, revealing an identical car - now that's cool.

If it makes it more interesting, it was a Citroen Traction Avant

//// beautiful Citroen //

Oxymoron. They are, at best, “interesting.”//

Really? The DS is widely considered one of the best looking cars of all time. Personally, I think the SM is even better. We had a CX growing up, that was pretty. Even as a shadow of their former selves, the C6 was better looking than the German or Japanese competition. Even the BX is growing on me with age.

//the film 'Diva'...now that's cool//

Even cooler, from my perspective at least, is that that film got me laid!
-- DrBob, Jun 28 2021

Disappointed that isn’t noted on the IMDB page for ’Diva’
-- hippo, Jun 28 2021

Watching the Tour de France today & both the film & the car got a mention*. Must be somethng in the air!
