mega ship that never docks picks up residents on shore by drone

nyc housing prices are inflated. thus , skyscrapers; you build up not out. well why not do both, and do it on closeby riparian water? YES ,barging is an age old residential alternative. now, big city residential barging, means building a mega cruise ship residential building in nyc. there is nothing new about this idea.

however, one of a mega cruise ships biggest problems is docking . both in money time and risk and logistics.

i propose a massive cruise ship that goes up and down the hudson river with the tides 2x per day, and docking maybe 1x per month, but heres the rub. the cruise ship picks up passengers on the island of manhattan so long as they are ANYWHERE near the hudson river. how so? a massive quadcopter drone that is dedicated to pickup and dropoff only is deployed. basically it hovers over the person, drops down its vest tethered harness, and away you go. of course, it's blades are within solid shrouds which minimizes noise and risk of this thing hitting anything.

this avoids the problem of docking on a daily basis which would kill any hope of success for a regularly floating apartment building being economically viable.

ideally a drone can be designed to carry two passengers at a time. it will be operated autonomously from onship super computers within a few miles up and down the hudson, and ,of course, --they can be summoned by the user using an app.

this cruise barge ship is not designed for open ocean, but it is also not designed for docking very frequently.its specifically designed to hang out in the hudson river, which can occasionally be windy and get small white caps but is never highly wavy. HOWEVER, this will not be a shallow draft ship, ideally it would house 10,000 residents and have a MINIMAL onboard team of engineers and security officers. cleaning robots would help maintain the ship.

THERE WOULD BE NO COMMON QUARTERS FOR THE SHIP. other than the decks . it's not a cruise line. no amenities, no food hall, gaming, entertainment, none of it. residents get an apartment with a kitchen ( all electric no natural gas cooking ).

ALL resupply save for fuel and water is designed to be accomplished by drone cargo ships. and even while docked, passengers are planned to onboard via drone. why is this?

this ship is purpose built and designed to minimize any and all space required for getting passengers on and off the ship. it is an efficient floating human sardine can.

in the case of emergency. there's no big set of emergency life craft. since this boat will always be within a few hundred meters of a shore line ( even in the new york bay )---it's drones could transport passengers to safety in relative speed.

oh and finally, the ship is designed to recycle all water, and heat/cold and minimize water waste. all 'garbage' is separated and sorted and on deck flora are fertilized with your processed carbon food scrap (including feces!).

all unusable garbage is subjected to ultra high compression and taken off the boat via drone.

and too boot, the ship is power by an onboard combination of solar/wind/submerged hydrogenerating turbines AND onboard solid oxide fuel cells ALL feeding into a heat and cold sink storeage and regeneration system. the ship also has onboard heat exchangers to ensure lavish quantities of fresh air are always available in ALL cabins. no matter what outdoor conditions are.

OH YEA , THIS IDEA IS AWESOME BECAUSE EVERYTIME A HUGE FINANCIAL REAL ESTATE BUBBLE IN A NEW CITY HAPPENS, YOU JUST EVICT ALL YOUR TENANTS AND MOVE THE SHIPS TO THAT NEW CITY TO MAXIMIZE PROFIT. HUZZAH FOR CAPITALISM
