LEDs light covered plant, room stays dark

During the day you have your plants in the room, each with a barrel shaped cover painted black on the inside, and a sliding (rounded) door, which is open.

At night or when the room gets dark, the LED lights go on.

If you want to sleep or the lights are disturbing you, hit the remote switch and all the covers shut closed. The plants continue converting CO2 to oxygen and giving it to the room, through a bend which does not pass the light on.

To be sold by alternative medics and virally, as the way to get oxygen lacking in the cities, and for people with any sickness, especially respiratory problems and cancer.

It could come factory assembled or as a kit, with all kinds of plants, from aromatic therapy to cucumber growing, each plant with its claim to fame (and respective conspiracy theory).

The inspiration. (I was the first with this idea, posted it here on HB years ago...)) [pashute, Mar 18 2017]

Ahhh, "organic" oxygen ... as opposed to inorganic oxygen from a cylinder, or a LRO generator.

IT'S THE SAME STUFF. IT'S JUST TWO OXYGEN ATOMS. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE.

Anything other than the most energetically efficient oxygen concentrator is a complete waste of time.

Shades of that "organic darkness" I saw in a copy of Punch circa 1975-ish.

This is for the alternative medicine business, in order to make you and me rich, and also has the benefit of letting you have a nice garden in your bedroom. Why the negativity?

The thing is, it's not just oxygen and that's the advantage. Sterility/purity is good for the emergency, short term fix but not really that smart for the future ongoing complexity.

On the other hand, if you look at the Cucumbers with LEDs video (or maybe it was a related video) the guy had to throw away a batch of plants because the mildew spores caused his wife an awful allergic outbreak.

I would be interested to see some oxygen budgets. Specifically amount consumed by individual human vs amount produced (per unit mass) by a plant. I have wondered - in locales like Mongolia or Minnesota, far from the ocean, what % of ambient oxygen is produced by local plants and what % must traverse the continent after being produced in the ocean?

I have to think in the winter nearly all of it must be coming from distant oceans. I wonder if mid continent oxygen levels dip in late winter because of this?

Hmmm. Probably the bit about making you rich as well as us.

The Borg aren't big on sharing anything outside the Collective.
