password alert   (+1)  [vote for, against]
not so boring anymore

Most of the websites have inbuilt rules for passwords. They throw up alerts if the password we key-in does not comply to their policy.

Here is a sample of password and the subsequent alert:

welcome - Poor

Welcome - Average

Welc@me - Strong

We!c@3e - Very Strong

To take out the boredom out of it, the alerts thrown up can be made interesting, something like this:

welcome - Are you kiddin'

Welcome - Hacker's paradise

Welc@me - Is that the best you can get

We!c@3e - Are you sure you can remember this later

(sorry if I am not being too creative in above attempt, but am sure you got the concept)

I do wonder whether there's a dictionary out there that lists out common words with common 'leet' substitutions, @ for a, 3 for m (or e, depending on personal style), and so on - someone's got to have worked on that already.

There are also *strong password generator* sites, but would you ever trust a password from one of those??

They do exist, including multiple dialects of leet.
