retrocausal hypercubes adjust the amount of visitation to the past   (+2)  [vote for, against]
The delayed quantum choice eraser causes things to happen previous to observations. create a laser path that traces out a hypercube, then change the edge lengths to find out what happens. Does it extend farther, or differently at retrocausal time?

The delayed quantum choice eraser causes things to happen previous to observations. Create a laser path that traces out a hypercube, then change the edge lengths to find out what happens. That is physcially change the distance between the mirrors, effecting the transit time of the photons. Does it extend farther, or differently at retrocausal time?

This might address the pesky thing of "where is it" because of the combination of a time machine with a rotating planet.

It would be great to adjust the laser path length live, creating a retrocausal pre-time trombone. What if efficiency of the delayed quantum choice eraser improved notably when earths velocity was matched?

//creating a retrocausal pre-time trombone

it was worth, just for that.

Would the quantum situation be open for that sort of exertion?

I envision dialogue like this as coming from the alien in the near future SF I like to read.

I could tell Bean was excited about whatever this trombone things was. Even if I was lost after the third word, it's excitement was contagious - sort of like a funny cat hyping out about something invisible. In this case, I gathered that the invisible bit might be in a different set of 3dimensional space. A good place to lose your trombone.

Introducing the Klein-Trombone... it plays itself, but only if you place the sheet music upside-down, backwards, and inside-out...

Interesting idea.

I don't follow what is meant by "trace out a hypercube". Is this simply sending laser pulses around a cube at two different time intervals?

The motion of the earth will not affect results, as proved by the Michelson - Morley interferometer experiments that disproved the existence of "ether" and led to special relativity.

OK I think I get it...add a beamsplitter that creates a time delay ie longer beam path on one path before the entangled photon goes into the setup.

Mr. Bean Angel suggests changing the path lengths during this delay, in effect interfering the results with a time-delayed copy of the results.

Visitation to the past? So you mean, this trombone would be a weapon to prevent people from going and changing the past?
