sculpture the shape that was there before

S. P. B. is an abbreviation for sculptured pressure bandage.

I was recently nipped by a dog. I was was at fault, his property, I was an unknown and should have been wiser. Anyway, the wound, that I decided not to stitch or glue, deformed due to healing pressures and spaces that by rights shouldn't exist. Ultimately only the tear volume should be repaired but that is not possible because the skin envelope has been altered.

What if the topology of my arm was known before hand, could not a plaster of original shape be 3D printed to hold tissue into the correct confined space as well as stitching. Think broken bone plaster cast for cut and tissue woulds. Probably the precedence is Hernia truss but on a laceration scale.

Tissue would heal to the specific pressured shape reducing scar tissue infilling places that are deleterious. I am thinking wide bangle looking object. For small cuts, a wide butterfly like plaster with bumps to sculpt internal skin layers to their original shape.

Then again .... less ugly, deformed battle scars to take to the ferryman.

This is not related. But it is interesting. And it could help. https://en.wikipedi...ki/Langer%27s_lines
As with anything, debate if it works on the knee. [mylodon, Nov 16 2017]

You wouldn't get this problem with a cat.

Perhaps not, but who'd want to have a cat strapped to their arm for several weeks ?

The bigger the cat the bigger the bite and claw but more clingy pressure.

Isn't this what they do for burns victims? I'm sure I have seen photos of people with facial burns wearing rigid masks designed to help the face heal in the right shape.

Shame they couldn't get one for Emannuel Macron …

[Max] I would understand, for an area like the face, there is a method but the common bandage isn't density designed to engineer varying pressure to aid the best possible scar growth.
