I've noticed that when i have to do an soldering, i need 3 hands. If i had a soldering gun, then i only need 2 hands, which i have. Just heat and squirt. Couldn't be easier. Of cource you would need a retractable tip (to heat your soldering joints) that would retract when you pull the triger to release the solder. I think it could work.-- static010, May 28 2004 Goot HF/HFC series manula feed solder gun http://www.goot.co..../HF_HFC/HF_HFC.htmlWorks like a caulking gun; just squeeze the trigger. [phoenix, Oct 04 2004] Automatic Soldiering Gun http://news.mod.uk/...taph_serving_tn.jpgWorks like a caulking gun; just squeeze the trigger. Oh... you said solder. [jurist, Oct 04 2004] Excellent - now (relative) pacifists like me can play with guns with a clear conscience!-- dobtabulous, May 28 2004 You get a croissant, though you can't eat it til you've washed the flux off your hands.
In the meantime, any good ideas for a solder-sucker that doesn't smack your workpiece really hard due to recoil?-- david_scothern, May 28 2004 I bet the gender genie has you banged to rights [phoenix]-- po, May 28 2004 For a good solder joint, the item to be soldered should be hotter than the solder itself. Laws of thermodynamics would seem to make it difficult to get such a result with a solder gun.-- supercat, May 28 2004 Build it with double triggers. One controls a flame tip that heats up the joint. The other trigger helps ooze warm solder onto the joint. Good for pipe...not so good for boards.-- Salted Nuts, May 28 2004 The retractable tip would heat the joint, the temperature could be independently for the tip and the solder.-- static010, May 28 2004 random, halfbakery
