'Couple times lately, I've had my work computer system identify HB pages as being unnacceptable. In that my home internet is (apparently permanently...) down, I' m doing my halfbaking from work during breaks, etc.
Basically I think the monitor is picking up on bad language, combinations of words, or perhaps link content. I'm not really sure. But seeing as each time it records my attempts to access "undesirable" content, I'd rather not keep up this trend. Obviously I don't go and view ideas like "vagina jam" or other fisting related ideas from here, but sometimes you just can't tell what's coming. So maybe there could be a tag on ideas that might generate hits from nanny-type filters?
Note that just not going to the HB from work is simply not considered an option...-- Custardguts, May 28 2009 Eudora Chilis http://www.eudora.c...ures/moodwatch.htmlMaybe croissant or chili views on the homepage [bigsleep, May 29 2009] I'm an insensitive clod Chased_20By_20A_20Leopard_20CommuteNSFW - at least maybe where you work at [normzone, May 29 2009] Sadly, I must wait until I get home or Halfbake from my PDA on my brakes. Supposedly, our computers are monitored by IT guys and I guess web surfing is a fireable offense. That's what they tell us, at least, and I don't want to get fired. I have no clue if it's true or not. What really sucks is that there's no restriction on the sites we can access, so it's like they're deliberately tempting us, daring us to break a rule and waiting to pounce when it happens.-- 21 Quest, May 28 2009 I do not believe vagina jam is fisting related, but I get your point. If I were your boss I would fire you.-- zeno, May 28 2009 This could work, and it could work pretty well. Have a database of words that are often considered objectionable, like profanity, vulgarity, and work-taboo words like 'sex', 'drugs', 'weapons', and racial slurs. Every idea posted would be automatically scanned, kinda like a spellchecker, and a color-dot system would be used to indicate the presence of objectionable words in the post. For instance, the following (completely hypothetical):
//This fine ass bitch wants to suck my cock, but her boyfriend's a wetback with a record a mile long. so this is an idea to get rid of the son of a bitch.//
This would be marked with a black dot next to the idea's title on the home screen to indicate the presence of NSFW words, and the dot would be triggered by any of the following words:
profanity (ass, bitch), vulgarity (cock), and racial slurs (wetback).
If the post were re-worded, it might not show up. For instance:
//A pretty lass would like to give me a trouser-friendly kiss. Her boyfriend, however, is an ill-tempered Mexican with a history of violence. This idea is intended to remove the threat posed by her boyfriend.//
No taboo words, so it would not trigger the content blocker on your company's computer.

How is the halfbakery system meant to second guess what will be classed as offensive?
You could try using a proxy service like ninjacloak or anonymouse. Or you could listen to [Ian].-- hidden truths, May 29 2009 I thought "bitch", "ass", and "cock" were all farmyard animals - e.g. "Sally, the bitch sheepdog raced through the farmyard, disturbing the cock, through the field where the ass was grazing to the sheep field".-- hippo, May 29 2009 Does Tooting count?-- Dub, May 29 2009 No, but Kipling and Dorking do.
