Two grandiose schemes for saving the world. First, global warming isn't about climate etc its about us lacking a purpose besides survival for its own sake. So we need a uniting purpose something really big that will bring us all together. Oil money and disaffected youth western technology and underemployed workers from africa. Together they build very very long, shallow and wide canals from the Mediteranean to the Northern Western Atlantic shore of Africa. Running alongside the canals are solar energy powered condensation ducts which condense all the naturally evaporating desalinated water. The ducts drain it into pipes, lakes and then we build experimental communities approved by a UN committee which try out attempts at social forms to devise a form of society that is more successful than that which we currently have. We could use nukes detonated underground to create an inland sea to soak up the extra sea we get from the melting ice sheets of antartica etc.

The second idea is political. First we get a name for a resolution to the UN and call a campaign group after that name. We then campaign for each country to support the resolution. The resolution calls upon every UN member state to hold an extraordinary debate where forums are organised on a small scale for every single citizen to participate, this can be monitored. The idea is that every single citizen in the world will talk about the same thing in the space of say two years. The discussion will address the following questions; What would you like to happen in your local area, region, country, continent and the world in the next five, ten twenty years. How do you think we can achieve that? The idea of this is that it would form an authorititave basis upon which the future policy development for the world could draw from. It would have moral and political power beyond the parochial conflicting interests which we need to tanscend.
