Why is a mouse called a mouse?

I want to make my mouse a bit more mousy, and painting whiskers on it isn't enough. I think if I widened the gap between the mouse body and the mouse key things, and added one of those little things that you put in pet toys that go squeak, except a LOT smaller, it would make a nice squeak for me.

I put [worldgineer]'s idea into practice with the squeak from here. [dbmag9, Jul 23 2005]

I think I would go insane in an open office full of these. +

Here's something you can do to approximate this. First, find a *squeak* sound in .wav format. Then (assuming you have Windows), go to Control Panel, Sounds and Multimedia, choose the Select sound event, and find your squeak sound.

that's excellent world. I'm going to make mine meow.

I'm surprised - none of you have even asked me what SLAGIATT means - unless you already know what it means...
froglet, Jul 23 2005

Well, I've so far asked my parents, a few teachers, and miscellaneous people on the street so far, and none of them know what it means.

       SLAGIN.

Then it hit me - none of them were Halfbakers.

       That explains it!

hey froglet, I just added a fanfare to some things and a wildcat to some others and this is going to drive me NUTS.

       thank YOU very much :)

[po], if it wasn't for the smiley face, I would've dived behind the chair. Actually, I might just do so, anyways - *just in case*...
