I figure I'd just hire someone to work out the details, but I'm convinced a screen that can be expanded (for instance when you're in a team situation, and everyone is looking at the same computer), or contracted (when try to be discreet) would be a best seller. It'd have to be easy to use-such as with the click of a "ADJSCR" button, and fast.

I played around with the idea of a manually adjusted screen, but something like that would surely be riddled with mechanical problems. I could just see a person giving it one too many hard yanks, and find him/herself with a flacid, awkward-looking display.

       I like your suggestion TwoSheds. I had been considering a circular screen that could fan-out. This would have to be mounted on a rising pedestal. The display would still be rectangular, but it would adjust accordingly. This could be tied into the monitor display settings of the OS.

       What instead of messing with the screen fabric itself, you move it? Put the guts of a video projector inside the monitor so normally, it projects on the screen like a rear-projected TV. Then when you press your ADJSCR button, a mirror flops over, some lenses move, and the image projects over on the wall behind or to the side of your monitor. Like a 2-in-1 projector/monitor.

       I think it could be done once flat roll-up monitors hit the market, but they would only be able to expand either horozontally or virtically.
