Something is going clickety click cank kerfffffffff in my engine. When I pop the hood to have my ill-informed poke around, I can refer to the handy annotated engine map permanently silkscreened onto the underside of the hood. That way, when I call someone who actually knows what they are doing, I can refer to the part or parts by name.

A basic troubleshooting procedures guide wouldn't hurt, neither.

Like those pictoral inserts in chocolate sampler boxes?
Good Idea.

Just make sure you put a mark or something next to each part's name, and have a legend that says, "**: DON'T TRY TO FIX THIS, MORON."

There should probably be a corresponding: "I can be jiggled."
