Bluetooth person tracker

A computerized building map that tracks people's location

This would be for tracking individuals in a large building, such as a corporation. Each person wears a bluetooth ID badge. Bluetooth sensors are mounted on each doorway, and in the center of a room on the ceiling. A central database keeps track of movements and and out of rooms. That way you can always tell where someone is if you need them. Combine with a group ware calendar, and you can see if someone is actually in their meeting, on the phone, etc.

As if we don't have enough surveillance in our lives. No thanks.[-] But I'd take one if it was just for the Boss, so we'd all know when to look like we're working.

A number of vendors have built prototype systems like this, see links.

And your employer is which agency of which government? This one's too scary for me - too much like the retina readings in "Minority Report."

I would be very nervous all day. I'm already afraid every second I'm going set off my boss and get them fired, I'd rather them not be able to see where I am all day long.

Check out www.ubisense.com - they're doing exactly this with Ultrawideband, which is well-suited to location-tracking
