im into it. lazy susans are just plain cool. |

The one in the link looks very advanced; and 3D.
Maybe I explained it badly, but mines just a simple 2D jobby. Imagine the cartridges for one of those old binocular slide viewer things that kids had in the 70s. |

So, the desktop is a strip of desktops, and can be shared and/or locked by other users on the network? |
|
| |
So if you go from mechine A to mechine B, you can just spin the desktops ' round to yours? Or is it like the OsX strip for programmes? |
|

That's that horrid thing they used in "Jurassic Park", isn't it? |
|

liam, that's correct, it is a strip, but a circular strip. |

Enlightenment on *nix has this. Requires a scrolling mouse. Configure multiple desktops. Scroll mouse on background image to switch desktops. |

I think you want a cube-shaped monitor where each of the four vertical sides is itself a monitor. Each monitor shows a different windowl. Simply spin it by hand so the proper screen is facing you and that's the window you're working in. |

You mean like a "ViewMaster" disc? Neat! Can work AND have a retro-moment at the same time. I like it. |

So, this has nothing to do with spinning baskets? |
|

Would be fun. I love spinning post-card stands and pretending to look at them, when there is obviously someone on the otherside intent on viewing a particular card. |

where can i get the download? |

I love the idea of the 3-D desktop you can interact with. I'm not sure if I'd use this specific interface because I don't have that many desktop icons. Maybe for browsing files? |

[waugs], the thing from Jurassic Park was one of the GL demos that Silicon Graphics used to ship with their workstations. |

The original poster seems confused. Beginning with some talk about multiple-desktop setups, the idea goes forward to talk about some roladex abstraction for looking through your files. |
|

I don't see the relation. Is this an idea for a better way to get to your files or your desktops? I get the idea that the terms "windows" or "desktops" is getting mixed up somewhere with "files". |

This is now baked in cell phones; specifically T-Mobile's myFaves-enabled phones (such as the Samsung t609) use this type of interface for selecting the person you wish to call. This idea was posted long before this, so I don't know if it was baked in other applications before this idea, but it's a good idea and I support it. |
