Colourless Clothing Labels

Most clothes come with some form of labeling, be it brand name or the washing instructions.

Colourless labels would allow people to leave the tag on the item of clothing without worrying that it would be seen through the fabric. It would also reduce the number of obvious "tag dag" situations.

This is particularly beneficial for washing instructions as they are often on the back of irritating labels.

If the label was made of a soft plastic/ elastic/rubbery material (I haven't thought this one through) then it would also be more comfortable and less scratchy than the conventional tags.

The use of permanent UV ink to print the labels would allow for totally clear/ colourless tags, virtually invisible. Otherwise a discreet font would still be less obvious than a white fabric tag.

       So we'd be able to read the laundry instructions only by blacklight? That's pretty cool. Kinda like decoding a secret message.   

       It's a cool idea but I'm still trying to decide whether it's practical or not. Let me sleep on it and I'll let you know if I'll give you a croissant or leave to to starve.

       Hanes has gotten rid of the tags altogether and is now printing the label info right onto the shirt material. I applaud this move. Shirt tags are the work of Satan.
