Last night I dreamed I was catering for about 700 people at an International Cross-country Wheelchair Racing tournament.
The chairs were in a few categories:
Human-powered
Electric
Gasoline-powered
Free
Wheels ranged from the sublime: Mountain Bike Tyres, to the extreme: Michelin's
new Tweel (airless with polypropylene spokes where the tyre would be) to the ridiculous: Monster Truck wheels, on earthmoving rims.
In all, a good time was had by young and old.

In your dreams, you are a caterer? Can you at least fly, or do anything else cool? |
|
| |
Terrible idea. Can't imagine why you posted it ;o)

Alex sat at the starting line in the Free Chair event, watching the other competitors disappearing across the field. Not for the first time that day, he wondered whether his choice of a Chippendale was wise.... |

Monster Trucks/Monster Wheelchairs. |
|
| |
Weirdly enough I had a similar idea recently, after seeing a man in a wheelchair going hell-for-leather alongside a river as I was driving past. |
|
| |
I don't see why not, though having tried to
mountain-bike through mud off-road, I
fear I wouldn't have the arm-strength to
do it in a wheelchair. |

//Last night I dreamed I was catering for about 700 // Yeah, so what was on the menu? |
|
| |
Shashlik, Lamb Tagine & Couscous, Cauliflower & Blue Cheese Soup are the only dishes I recall. I don't do fast food. Drink was a Brokenwood Oaked Chardonnay. |

Tomorrow's menu is Loubia (Lebanese dish of Green Beans and Tomatoes and Chillis) accompanying Chicken grilled with Sumac, Lemon and Rosemary... and a chilled Tatachilla Viognier Shiraz. |

[Unabubba], we must be on the same dream channel. Do you take reservations? |

Cool. Like a Wheelchair Ironman. [+] |

I think there was something similar on the Discovery Channel. |

A recent BBC series had a number of people with disabilities crossing Nicaragua. They'd developed off-road chairs that would be great for this [link]. |
|
| |
This is good, but I don't see why it should be restricted to people with disabilities. I have the good fortune to have the use of all limbs, but I'd still love to give this a go [+]. |
|
| |
True. I would love to try this...although I know I would get my ass kicked by everyone who uses a chair every day. |
|
| |
Would the average times be faster or slower than with normal cross-country? |
